Journal entry #1
This first journal entry will get you thinking about what you want to get out of this course and how much effort you will need to put in to achieve your goals.
It is sort of like a New Year's resolution.
Consider these questions as you write your entry:
- Are you more interested in getting a certain letter grade?
- OR Are you more interested in learning a certain amount?
- (Examples: basic understanding (70%), well grounded understanding (85%), everything (95%))
- OR Are you more interested in gaining an in depth knowledge of only certain topics covered?
- What new concepts/facts/topics do I want to understand by the end of the semester?
- What skills would you like to improve by the end of this semester?
- (Examples: note-taking skills, written English skills, speaking skills)
- Given the expectations for achieving certain grades, how much time do you think you need to try and budget for this class per week?
- Do you think you learn better if you complete a homework assignment immediately after we cover a topic, or to have time to process/digest the material?
