Goals:

• make measurements of plate velocities at divergent margins (setup specific stations)
  • using magnetic anomaly maps (map)
  • use Geomapapp to measure distances since magnetic anomaly map does not have scale

• compare to topographic maps and/or satellite images of divergent boundaries
  • make observations about topographic features at station locations
  • what is latitude and longitude of those stations?
  • draw cross section of this location showing lithosphere, asthenosphere, etc.
  • groups share results with class

• convergent and strike-slip boundaries - use GPS exercises from online
  • software instructions
