Purpose
The purpose of this trip was construct a set of transect lines for repeat measurements
- Lines were made using floresant masonry string tied across the river in two meter intervals. One meter lengths were then measured and marked along each string to form a grid. This creates a fixed reference frame for measurements made on a weekly basis. This trip depth was recorded, however, subsequent trips will record depth, temperature, and compaction of bed material.

Weather
This trip occured the day after a flash thunder storm. The water was a little high and the sky was overcast. The banks were eroding away befreo my eyes.
- I saw lots of wolf spiders this trip. They were about 2 to 3 inches in diameter.
- I noted the water surface to string hieght so that with diferrent water depths the datum will remain the same. Fun fun fun.
After compiling depth data and processing it with Surfer Software, the following riverbed topography was created.
[edit]
What we learned:
- It is far easier to get the study area by walking along the bank than by trudging through the river.
- Two folks may be easier so that there is one person for recording data called out by a measureing person in the river.
- Rubber raft may be needed for next trip
- Long pants with waders is key. Otherwise, you get a friction burn that hurts like *&$%&.
