Affective Domain Survey
From GeoClasses
What is the level of influence the affective domain (or it subparts) on recruitment effectiveness in Introductory Geology classes? (What is the correlation between things such as positive attitude/ “high level” of interest and decision to become a major? Is this really common sense?).
Subareas:
- The influence of difference social/cultural backgrounds on student attitude
- Demographics:
- Large classes vs. small classes
- Exclusive institutions vs. open institutions
- Active vs. passive learning
- Other pedagogical differences
- Lab classes (inquiry based) vs. no labs
- Major vs. non major
- Pre-service teachers vs. other non majors
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Age
- What is the difference between student attitudes and attitude shifts for pre-service teachers?
- How do our student attitudes vary across institutions?
- How prepared are students prepared for completing and being successful in classes?
- What is the link between attitude and performance?
- Can students’ attitude change over the semester and what are the factors that affect attitude change?
- How often does completing the course result in a change of major (from some other major to geoscience and visa versa)?
